After a class discussion of the family brain teaser, we realized we still had a PROBLEM!
Many students and families had FANTASTIC mathematical discussions and wrote down some powerful thinking, but we have more than one answer for the amount of lines of symmetry for each shape (except the circle)!!! Look at the photo below for the answers that we got in 5M.
We need to either find ways to mathematically prove or disprove the answers that exist until we have an agreed answer for each of the shapes!!!
This week and next week PLEASE spend time looking at the problem we are experiencing from our first Brain Teaser called Tiger's Tiles.
We will be posting family proofs in the hallway and revisit the problem on the 26th of September to see if we have narrow our answers and can agree on one correct answer for each shape.
